Betsy Hartong

Family: Jason Hartong (husband), Zimri, Amasa

Occupation: Doula

What are three facts that you want us to know about yourself?

  • I am a homeschooling mom of my amazing 11 and 14 year old children.
  • I have a heart for all kinds of love and justice works.
  • I am a Modern and Ballet dancer and instructor.

What Inspires you to be a Women of Hope?

I, Betsy, delight in how God has fearfully and wonderfully made each one of us. As a youth worker, I have seen firsthand how the enemy robs young women of their identity in Christ. They don’t feel lovable and often obsess over externals as a way to gain acceptance. I want to be a voice of Truth which exposes the enemy's lies, enabling girls to walk in freedom from unworthiness and pain which fuels this.

I, Amasa, after doing a mother/daughter study on the book Every Young Women’s Battle by Shannon Ethridge, saw how easily an insecure (and even secure) girl could get sucked into the sex trade. I desired to get involved which lead my mom and I to host a mother-daughter your luncheon to raise awareness on the issue of sexual exploitation. For The Silent came and shared, and afterward my mom and I decided to be a part of what God is doing through them.

What ways are you involved in the community?

I am a Doula and use my services to help young mothers from Father Heart, Building Block, and PRC with birthing their babies.

I teach dance at Moms and Kids Inc. This is a group to connect young moms as well as provide a loving atmosphere for their children.

I love to teach on healthy living and the benefits of essential oils.

What is a fun fact about you?

I, Betsy, have taken over 1,000 teens and young adults to 10 different countries, to share the love of Christ.

As a four year old, Amasa shared the love of the Father with her new little friend, Tulla, while on a mission trip in Guatemala. Her boldness inspired the whole team!
